Spring Foraging

Many of the fruit trees are in bloom, and it is officially time to start this seasons harvesting and foraging adventures.

In the coming weeks we will be filling baskets daily with some of the wonderful spring edible and medicinal plants that we grow--ground ivy, violet, dandelion, yellow dock, burdock, fiddleheads, ramps, lilac, and knotweed--just to name a few!

The peak harvest window for many of these plants is quite short, so we will spend lots of our time drying, freezing, tincturing, and otherwise preserving them for future use.

If you are familiar with our tea blends, you know that violet tends to be a favorite ingredient. We just love violet for her ability to add moisture to medicinal herb blends that tend to be on the more drying side.

Get out there, put your feet on the Earth, and put some violet flowers on your plate!
